jHUB and @akiva are excited to offer The B-Mitzvah Experience, where students will explore different areas of ‘adulting’ through a Jewish lens. This can be a standalone experience or complement a synagogue program or other b-mitzvah experience.

Adulting can be a lot, and let’s face it, no one learns how to do it in a day. The years leading up to adulthood are filled with ups, downs, and core moments that shape us.

Families guide preteens to become “adults” through a bar, bat, or b’nai mitzvah ritual. We use the inclusive term “b-mitzvah” for all variations. Becoming b-mitzvah involves a transformative process with many steps. In Israeli culture, the year before b-mitzvah includes various “tasks” (Mesimot in Hebrew) to enrich this time. The B-Mitzvah Experience helps you and your child navigate this path with hands-on activities focused on leadership, customs, culture, resilience, and independence.

Immerse your 6th and/or 7th graders in this group, which will meet eight times during the school year, some with and some without parents.

The dates are September 7 (Roots & Heritage @ Camp Wise), October 26 (Identity @ Mandel JDS), November 16 (Self-Care @ Abide Yoga), January 25 (Leadership @ Orange Library), February 08 (Pursuing Justice @ Solon Community Center), March 15 (Independence @ Cleveland RTA stations), April 26 (Protecting the Earth @ Richfield Preserve), and May 17 (Closing Program @ TBD).

Cost: $118/family
